Default Problems with transferring HondaCare warranty...

So I called up HondaCare because I needed some warranty repair work done soon (one of the seams on my top is stretching and I need hardtop strikers.) The bumper to bumper warranty is almost up but I still have about a year left on the powertrain.

I forgot to transfer the warranty with the seller when I bought the car because I assumed there wasn't a need for transfer as long as the VIN matches up. Anyways, when I called up HondaCare the first time, they said they just wanted a fax of the bill of sale or transfer of title. When I was about to do so a few days later, I called again just to clarify, and they said they also now need a letter from the previous owner saying that its ok to transfer.

The problem is I cannot get in touch with the previous owner now. (Actually, he is just not returning my calls.) I was wondering if there was another way around this matter to get my warranty.

Hey Dan, sorry to hear that. My previous owner doesn't return my calls either hahaha (never gave me the maintenance records :smackhead.

Sorry to hear about the Hondacare, but those things seem like easy fixes? Where is it stretching? I had my top patched where I was getting stretch/tears for $20 in Sunnyvale. Hardtop strikers are $46 from hardtopguy.

Good luck with getting the hondacare though

Its stretching along the rear side. The stitching on the inside of the softop is coming apart near the frame rails so I would imagine that the top would need to be taken off to be fixed. Won't be easy to sew it back up. I was hoping HondaCare would fix it or replace my top (or I'll pay extra to get a glass window top installed) and for them to pay for my new strikers too. Haha. Although I'm not expecting HondaCare to do much.

Got contact info on the guy who patched your top? Worst comes to worse, I'll have him check it out to see how much it costs to fix. Thanks Chris.
