Installed a AEM cold air intake with by pass valve on my y.s2k last week. It sounds better and feel little difference on performance. But my check engine light comes on, few times already. Now is this normal ? Does any of you had this problem?
Guessing it might cause by by pass valve.
I am starting think to put original parts back to how it was.
All I wanted to do was to get some more power out the car, but don't wanna damage it.
Help poor guy out with some good suggestions.

well, I know I have a bypass valve as well, and no check engine light...i think if you search a little people have said something about making sure the hoses are attached correctly. Otherwise, I really don't know...sorry

I tried that already. But the light came back on again.
I have no problem reseting it with disconnecting the battery.
But what I am woundering is that normal ?
thanks for your input.

There are two critical vacuum lines that are removed when you do a CAI. You most likely have these crossed and/or the little in-line filter reversed. Go back to your instructions and follow each of these lines to ensure they start at the proper place and end up in the proper place. This is usually the reason why people get CEL's after a CAI install.

i have the same intake...and i got a CEL after installation.
I had improperly reinstalled some of the vacuum hoses...more specifically...the check valve. check and double check your vacuum hose connections...everything should have a home.

In my installation instruction. It didn't show too much about connecting valves. Is there other source of instruction to check over my valves?
thanks in advance.

what i actually did was take a picture of the vacuum hoses before i began installation. Once the intake was in, i then made sure that all hoses were connected the same as stock, but rerouted of course...i don't think i even looked at those instructions for a minute...they are pretty worthless IMO.
Let me check and see if i have the pictures.
