PROBLEM: it seems like my s2000 is burning oil????
i just recently got my 03 s2000 like a month ago new, everything was running fine but when i popped the hood to check the oil after puttin 1k miles on it it was down to 1 quart? then i called up the dealership and they said it was normal. but i felt otherwise, and so i gave it another chance, now i have about 1,500 miles on it and it burned a quart.....wut do u guys think? how does ur oil change usually go? every 3k miles or wut? thx for the help!

For normal driving conditions, it's an oil change every 7,500 miles.
It is normal for an oil burn anywhere from nothing to a quart every thousand miles or so. I believe that this may taper off with the more miles you put on it.

Wow, can you imagine that it's been almost 4 years since I found out that this is true for the S2000! Yup, back in late '99 us original owners learned that this engine can use around a quart per 1000 miles if you drive hard. The FRM cylinder walls seem to be the cause, they require a longer period than the more common cast-in iron sleeves to fully seat the rings.

You also left out how you drive the car. It does take a while for the rings to seat and you will use some oil. I wouldn't worry about it yet. Wait till about 10k miles before worring about it.

Even cars in excess of 10K miles will burn oil... like mine.
I tend to as much as possible, I live in VTEC most of the time. My car continued to burn significant amounts of oil (1qt per 2K miles) right up until 30K miles on the clock. At 28 and change, I took it Honda for evaluation. They put it on an "Oil Test" for 2000 miles. There was no significant oil burn during this test and we agreed the car is fine... but I was woried I might have the infamous #4 Cylinder Issue, so I got it recorded and checked by Honda to be on the safe side.
I watch it religiously and it appears ot have tapered off somewhat.

if you have read your owner's manual, you would have been informed that you should check the oil level and top it off if necessary each time you fill your gas tank.
