Hey pal,
Can't really advise you on price being that I'm over here in the UK and I know the prices here won't tally with what you pay over there but I would advise you to go for the MY02 if your budget stretches that far? I was in the same predicament when I was looking, I could have gone for a MY00, MY01 or a MY02, I looked around for months and got hooked on the MY02. Main selling points for me were: The glass, heated rear screen instead of the plastic one
Integrated tweeters in the doors
Upgraded sound system, nice bose speakers all round that I personally think are more than adequate and give a great base kick
More fancy bits of chrome in the cockpit! - not a major selling point but looks swish!
I shouldn't think the price will come down too much in the fall for you, sellers aren't silly either - if the price is greatly effected most of them I'm sure will love to keep hold of their sexy cars until the summer to get the most return back on their investment.

P.S Whatever you decide, you will love the car! As long as you get a black one because black rocks!

it really all depends on the time of year AND where you live. In many parts of the country, S2000's are rare. In other areas, merely uncommon.
in the areas where the S is more plentiful, like CA, they cost less. $23K for a 2002 is pretty bargain basement...it depends on the area. $20K is doable in many areas.
in summer, more people want convertibles and supply doesn't change.
