Most shops dont see s2000's on a regular basis.Thats how just about every shop I have worked in operated. Once the customer comes for a detailed estimate then we sit down and see exactly what is needed and do a complete check-over on the car to make sure there is nothing out of the ordinary that needs to be addressed before the maintenance items are taken care of.
Correct, I haven't worked at a dealership, but I have dealt with customers in other respects. Sometimes you'll have a customer come and ask "what do I need done" and sometimes they'll ask for specific things to be done. In the first case I wouldn't reccomend unnecessary work to be done, because I have better things to do than pad a bill, and in the second case I'd let them know if the requested work was unnecessary. If they insist, that's another story.

If OP didn't have a price then I'd have less of an issue with just a list of suggested work, but by the time that one gets to pricing the work, they should have realized that some of the items weren't necessary. Maybe I shoud be happy that they aren't trying to sell him on changing his power steering fluid and timing belt...

Since I'm not in the automotive industry, I'll give you an exmaple of another type of service provider pushing an unnecessary unneeded work to pad his bottom line.

I think it's more of a matter of if you want to DIY or not. There's nothing wrong with someone who only works 40 hrs a week paying to get the service done as long as they person they're paying is legit.

Typical stealership prices.

All that is simple DIY stuff.Parts & Fluids might all cost less than $200.

4 hrs tops to do all that.

This thread misses an important point. Even though the S2000 is a legitimate high performance sports car, maintenance costs are pretty reasonable. Go to a BMW dealer and ask for a maintenance package for a 328i or 335i similar to the thread starter mentioned by Grillo. I guarantee it will far exceed $575. The beauty of the S2000 is that routine maintenance does not very much exceed routine maintenance for a Civic. The only maintenance area which is expensive is tire replacement. And don't get me started on the 18" high performance run-flats which a Bimmer with sport package would require.

Yes they can wait. My problem is that my car is so damn low I did it all before a track day. And my car isn't as low as a lot of them.

While you're down there you can pull the fill plugs and check the hight and color of the fluids in both.

The diff and trans can wait, but they're really easy to if you're changing the brake fluid. Doing them together saves a decent amount of time. You can start a gravity bleed of the brakes and then bang out the three fluids. No need to jack the car up multiple times or dispose of used oil. While you're at it, you can inspect the boots and brake pads.

You can save things like spark plugs (which at 45k are probably fine), engine and cabin air filters, etc for another time if you want since they're independent of jacking the car up.

All the parts/fluid should come up close to $150 or maybe a little over. The rest is labor.
