I came out of work today to find the ice had melted off my hood (and revealed gash marks). Maybe I missed them before, maybe it was from rocksalt, but I am convinced the ice had something to do with it. I should have known better.

Why do I bother trying to keep the car nice? Seems like no matter what I do, something is shitting on it, dinging it, sratching it, staining the paint...... time for a beer.

Anyone else suffered the same problem with ice?

...that's why I put my car in storage a month ago... just to avoid those uncontrollable annoyances!

Don't panic till you give it a good wash. It may be an optical thing. My car has been covered in ice, snow, slush, mud, salt, etc. The only damage has been the occasional rock hit where the 3M doesn't cover.

Thanks XVIPER,

I actually handled it relatively well. When things like this happen, I just laugh and say "of course".....

Ahh, the indignities of new cars.

Quik S2k,

I washed the car a week before, no scratches there. I would have chalked it up to gravel, but it is such a peculiar pattern (wavy going down with gravity).

I think I read something on this board about ice scratching paint. The guy hasn't seen this thread though and I can't seem to search the thread out.

Who knows?

That could have been the case.

Thanks.
