Default Pressing the "Start Engine" button twice

Just curious: Did anyone accidently press the start button while the engine's already running?

Does the starter grind? Or is it smart enough to ignore the input?

Good question. I've always wondered this, but never dared to try.

It will grind if you keep the clutch pedal depressed.

As long as you arent holding down the clutch (why you would be depressing the clutch and pressing the button after its started I do not know) it will not grind. - press it all you want.

I did this before by accident when I first got my car

If the clutch isn't being pressed nothing happens but if the clutch is pressed it will grind just like if you were to turn the key on a car that was already started

its just a button. there are no microchips, relay, electronics at all. Its the equavalent of turning your key to touch 2 contacts in a non-'start button' car.
