If the car sounds raspy after removing the resonator, it wasn't done correctly. The wrong diameter of piping could have been used or the welds might not be complete. It's a subtle difference with it removed but definitely worth the money.

Removing the resonator was the best $50 I ever spent on this car. Use the same diameter pipe in stainless with stainless brazing and hangers, and you'll be quite happy. Stock looks with a little extra presence.

are you going to tig weld it? most muffler shop will not able to tig weld.

you might looking at 100 buck for someone to tig weld, i don't even know the two metal can be tig welded together without any issue.

plus different rate of heat expanse of the two metal, stick with the good ole muffler piping and call it a day

one of my first mods back in the day Def a better tone than stock, make sure it gets doen at a quality shop.

I kept it and took off both mufflers....Drops nearly 2 hp, but you lose a decent amount of weight. (30 something lbs)

I get compliments on how my 'aftermarket' exhaust sounds every once in a while, so I'd say it sounds alright.

I'm test piping it soon, maybe that'll sound even better?

the other guy was half right. Most muffler shops cannot weld aluminum. Main thing is good luck trying to weld aluminum to any iron alloy...

You might be thinking of aluminized piping. You really are better off going stainless. Good stainless is very durable.

thanks for the above responses. i just went today to remove the resonator with 2.5" s.s. piping. they didn't have any 2.25" available. hopefully it won't have any negative effect.
