Default PowerTrain Warranty questions

hey everyone, ill be picking up an S2000 in april and ive got a couple warranty questions(and i have done a search).I could'nt find a price for the hondacare powertrain warranty, how much you guys pay? Also, does that cover all engine/tranny probs assuming its not modded to hell. Pretty much i wanna keep the car for a while but i dont want the tranny gears to break after 10,000 miles of owning it and have to fork 2 grand.

The dealer offered me a 7/70/$50 deductible for around $1250 when I bought my car last summer. That's the standard HondaCare service plan. I don't like calling it a warranty because it's really not one.

Considering all the issues some folks have had with getting Honda and/or some dealers to honor the HondaCare policy, as well as a certain attitude I've gotten on the issue from my dealer (although they've never denied a claim on my Odyssey), I decided to look into other options.

I wound up with a policy from Warranty Direct. I got a 7/100/$0 deductible for right at $100 less than the HondaCare policy the dealer offered me. Internet inquiries indicated that the company was good to work with and even my dealers service department said they'd had good experiences with them. My car's still within it's factory warranty so I can't say how they'll do for me but I'm more comfortable with them than I would be with HondaCare.

FWIW!

i got one through universal underwriters. i could find no bad-mouthing in google. My powertrain warranty covers everything inside the engine, tranny, and diff, including the casings themselves. stuff like alternators and AC compressors are not covered.

warranty policies differ, but that's pretty standard.

"Also, does that cover all engine/tranny probs assuming its not modded to hell."

read the policy. many can refuse a claim if the car is modified at all. YOU HAVE NO PROTECTIONS LIKE YOU DO WITH THE MAGNUSEN-MOSS WARRANTY ACT LIKE ON NEW CARS. They do not have to prove the mod caused the failure.
