My Mom's from Kumamoto and they speak some really old Japanese down there. The last time I was in Japan, people were just tripping out on me, since some of the words I were saying were really old.

I'm probably better off sticking with English, with a California-ben.

your mom's from Kumamoto? i didn't know that! two of my best friends are from there. Another one lives in Kagoshima. Of course to my friends from Tokyo the Kyushu people are just country folks.

I guess we're listing where our nihon-jiin parents came from, I'll write down mine.....
Mom's from Magiro in Shikoku Island and Dads born here but was at Hiroshima for a long time, we speak mostly Hiroshima dialect. Actually, I don't know nihon-go that much!
And just to keep it on the topic....nice link Richard!

Poor Tak. No help here. You may as well tell everybody what part of Japan your parents are from too.

Cool, I forgot to mention that my Dad's from Hiroshima too. He was actually there when they dropped the bomb. Not many of those people around in Japan anymore.

I speak mostly the stuff they speak in Kumamoto since my grandmother taught me most of my Japanese while I was growing up. You sure forget a lot of it when you don't use it.

Oh well, I give up ... That's fine, usual board politics. Going off-topic from the main concern isn't uncommon. Doesn't really bother me. Paul from Prophecy is helping me with the enquiries. So you guys, just blabber on as much as you like.

"refreshing" and "new" in the big characters

Takaichi (?) - maybe a name?

Suzuki Yumiko (prounciation?) - definitely some girl's name
