Calm down! Your car is fine. Ever heard of Autocross? Shift at the redline at WOT (Wide Open Throttle)? Spin, Slide, Drift? smile.gif Go take a gander a some of the racing videos guys have posted in the "Racing and Competition" forum. I autocrossed my 00 over 20 times all WOT shifting and bouncing off the rev limiter, it needed a new friction disk (clutch) at 60K and I went through several sets of brake pads. That was it. Drive it and enjoy it thumbsup.gif And your firewall has is made of steel and has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with driving/shifting your car. It is the structural bulkhead between the engine compartment and the passenger compartment.
..I think our tranny is pretty resiliant, the clutch is the real weak point. I do it on a weekly basis (spirited drives through twisties on weekends ) My car drives as good now as it did when I picked it up (3 mo. ago)! Just make sure you are accurate on the shifts.....dreaded GRIND sucks!

Just to make sure we have the terms right here...

Powershifting is when you shift gears without taking your foot off the gas. This is different from just shifting quickly at WOT.

Quick shifts done correctly won't hurt the car at all. Powershifting has the potential to.

by power shifting i meant quick shifts, throwing it back into 2nd or 3rd fast, popping the clutch out and stomping it is what i'm talking about, i should have used another word than power shifting as the correct definition is shifting with the pedal on the gas. sorry

In that case, CaptainMike is completely correct. You have nothing to worry about. You can shift the car fast as much as you want as long as you're accurate with your shifts.

alright well you gave me peace and mind about this. also one more question for you or anyone else. today on the way back from getting some jack in the box, and i had gone to an appointment earlier i was at a stop light near my house. when i started up, it felt like it was starting to bog from starting out to easy, so i gave it more gas, and it started to jolt, so i just shifted into 2nd and went on, it stopped, and hasn't done it since. it has been a very hott day today as it has been all week. dunno why this happened? or what not. hasn't happened anymore though. just a fluke? bad start off, wrong amount of throttle or what?
Probably what we refer to as 'heat-bog' or 'heat-soak' meaning that underhood temps and intake air temps get high enough that intake air lacks the density necessary to combust properly until the car gets moving a little and gets some fresh air , pretty normal here in FL. The other common thing it could be is a bad MAP sensor/connection (see the MAP Whack in the FAQ section of the Technical forum) That FAQ section and your owners manual are your very good friends
The car will also tend to act a little odd after a major change in weather/temp or elevation that is just the ECU learning new parameters.
There are a lot of really smart and experienced people here on the boards who are happy to help out with advice.. there are also a couple of morons whose advice isn't worth the electrons used to post it, Use common sense.
Enjoy the car! Go to an autocross if you get a chance, only way to drive it like it was designed to be driven and not risk a ticket. (and track events/ driving schools are a good time and quite worth the money)
Cheers, Mike

Be careful playing around with shifts at the redline.. mis-shifting from 9000 RPM in 3rd and getting 2nd when you were trying to find 4th will blow your engine if you don't get back on the clutch fast enough...before causing a "Mechanical Overrev"
