I had an old friend that used to drive his explorer and I swear shift by 2300rpms at the HIGHEST. I couldn't understand why, except maybe he thought it was better for the engine? This was accelerating not cruising btw (and no, the rev limit wasn't that low on it). On light acceleration/daily driving, I generally shift by 3500rpms or so, as the gears are close together, and the middle gears, it's easy to shift by 3k rpms.
Folks who have the 2.0l though might need to wring the car out a little more to get the same acceleration. I think keeping the revs up is fine if you're actually accelerating, but if you're just chugging along, there's really no need to be over 3500 w/ the 2.2l.

I noticed there to be a slight power dip (or hesitation) when I floor the car between 2-3K rpm (I know I know, can't constantly keep it above 6K ). At first it was in second gear but I quickly realized it was there in first and third gear. Therefore, I can only conclude it is a characteristic of the F22C1 engine. I owned an F20C before and never noticed this behaviour.
I know certain Honda motors have strange power dips (i.e. RSX Type S).
I also have an K&N intake which is yet to be installed. I wonder if this will remove the power dip?

Besides, going WOT @ 2-3k RPM in an S2K is like sticking your dick in a girl while it's 20% hard and still limp. Unless you're boosted and/or have gears, it isn't worth it.
