Default Possibly returning to an S2000...have a 7 year old so not sure

I'm thinking about getting another s2000. I owned an 03 for a few years as a daily driver. but got rid of it when my son was born. He is now 7 years old, and I'm due for a new car. I want to get my hands on a Laguna blue s2k as a daily driver but m a little concerned about my son in front seat. I'm aware about the air bag issue so I wanted to see if anyone drives with their young kids in it. My other option would b the g37 convertible but hard to find a used manual convertible...

If you're serious about finding a Laguna, that will be an 06+. 06-09 S2000s come with an airbag cutoff switch on the passenger seat for smaller passengers.

Regardless of being able to disable the airbag, the front passenger seat is the least safe spot in a car and more so for children. I would get a coupe.

seeing as how you are worried about safety since you have a child.
I would suggest also looking into the new crash test category of "small overlap test"

The S2k is too old to have the results for these test. I hope you still find it useful, if you are considering other cars.

Really up to you, I have younger children that ride in the S in a booster seat. If I was always taking my kid (or all the kids) with me I would likely have gotten something else (FRS) but 95% of the time it's just me.

Cabin and the footwell of the S2000 is one of the safer cars out there. It's gotten 4 out of 5 stars for frontal crash testing, and 5 out of 5 stars for side impact testing.

BTW, both my kids have ridden in both my S2000 and my wife's S2000. My S2000 has Mugen buckets, and the kids use a special harness (not NHTSA approved). Im my wife's S2000 (OEM seats), they rode in Recaro baby/toddler convertible seat, and now both use a simple booster.

My kids are 6 and 4 (44lbs and 38lbs, respectively).

i have a 7 and 10 year old, '03 S.

I just push the seat back all the way, put a booster in for my 7 year old. and i don't crash.

Well, I got lucky....and sort of fell for my wife because she was a car-girl and wanted to build up (at the time), her Civic, then wanted to get into a Prelude....and ended up with an S2000 (back in 2000).

She then let me track and mod the S2000, when we got engaged, I 'took' the S2000 , and then a few years back, after having our second child, I built her her own S2000 that I didn't over-modify, giving it to her as a Xmas present.

Here's the two together:

A pic with my then recently turned 4 year old daughter in the car sitting in an early model Recaro Young Sport seat.
