Possible fix to vibrating Rick's windscreen
#1
Fpr those of you who have Rick's windscreen and are experiencing vibrating or buzzing noises try this. I bought a foot of 1/4" rubber fuel hose. Make a slice down one side of it for the entire length. Slide it down one side of the screen starting at the top. Mark the top and cut off the excess. Now push the hose against the roll bar and adjust as you wish. I haven't glued mine nor have I tried it on the highway yet but you can see with a little tweaking this might just work. I painted mine flat black and trimmed it real nice and I think it looks great. This might be a better option than drilling or glueing something to the roll bar. Try it and post your thoughts. Good luck.

I have fortunately not had any buzzing or vibrating from the 7/8 screen. At night I can see my speedometer in the screen when looking through rear view mirror. Neat way to keep track of speed when looking behind for cruisers.

Prolene,
That wasn't a benefit considered !
No Rice,
Good suggestion. My screen vibrates a bit at speed, but does not make any noise, and I have the full size. ReedZ and I will be getting together this weekend, so we'll experiment with your solution.

No Rice: The first thing I tried was the hose trick, similar to what you suggested, using clear plastic instead of black rubber. I wasn't exactly thrilled with the result; it spoilt the lines of the new screen too much, and looked pretty ugly. Is there a chance you can post a pic so we can see how yours turned out?
I'm working on a $5 fix this weekend which involves drilling a couple of 1/8" holes in the rollbars; if the results turn out O.K., I'll post some pics.

Unfortunately I don't have a digital camera so I can't post pictures. I'm determined to make this work since drilling is such a permanent thing. Keep us updated on your progress as I will also.

O.K. Will do.
Drilling a 1/8" hole shouldn't be difficult to cover up if my fix doesn't turn out right. I can easily fill that size hole with a hard rubber compound to mold with the plastic cover. I'll let you know.
