twohoos,

Where can you get the crush washer for 15 cents??? Most of the dealers I go to charge about 75cents for a lousy crush washer.

I generally don't change my own oil, but I can't see you can get under the car and change the oil due to the lack of decent ground clearance.

Actually 19 cents from H and A. They show list price as 25 cents.

June, check out the link to my "How To" that I posted earlier in this thread. It'll show you how to change the oil. You need to jack the car up but some have done the oil change from above - a bit more contortions required but possible.

Proper disposal is probably the biggest reason that I cheap out and take it to the dealership.
It is really no big deal. Most places that sell oil, like Wal-mart or Autozone, with take and recycle your old oil for free. Just save some milk jugs to put the oil in.

It sounds like you have been listening to the dealerships too much! They can ALWAYS talk anyone into thinking they need to do service following the servere conditions. I think most people should probably follow the normal routine (hence the use of the word normal).

Actually, from what ive seen, normal is for people who drive mostly high-way, no extremely high or low temps, no stop and go, no long periods of idling (anything over 15 min), trips longer than 30 min. these are all considered normal. im not sure how many of you dont do this but im guessing, its not many. Ha, i guess those two years as a Jiffy Lube asst. manager, and the bi-annual pennzoil training did mean somthing, lol

Dave(the 20 yr old know it all)
P.S. the name is a joke, i am always looking for more info, tips and tricks, hmm, maybe a new thread comming on tips and tricks....)
