Play in steering wheel after 15k service
I just got my car back from it's 15k service. The wheel now feels easier to turn, especially the first 10-15 degrees from center when the car is moving. This is a new phenomena it wasn't like this before. Something has been changed. The tires are 32psi all around. What the hell could they have done?.
Any help?

Hello again.
32 psi was before and after service. The dealer did the standard 15k service for our cars. Specifically I would like to know if the steering play is adjustable. I'm not so concerned with what they did, rather I want to know how to fix it.
thanks,
George

The spec is 10 mm max rotational play in the steering wheel until the front wheels move. Otherwise, your car should have a "rack guide adjustment".
I remember this was routine maintenance for one of my older Hondas. Maybe your dealer thought he should do that to your car at 15K. Should be better, not worse!

exactly. which is why I was questioning what was on your invoice. there IS a 15K mile service and it lists certain things done to the car, but this really depends what the mechanic and/or service writer wrote up to actually do.
depending on what they did, they could have touched/disassembled a piece in play, or they could have adjusted it not knowning that it didn't need to be adjusted.
