I'm instructed to put Super Unleaded 98 RON fuel only into my S2000 but here in England most petrol stations only have Super Unleaded 97 RON or the normal unleaded 95 RON. What are the implications of putting 97 RON fuel over an extended period of time, is it just a performance thing or will it affect the engine?
Cheers Ivor

There's one reason for living up north, I'm paying 84.9p per litre. You might get cheaper miles per gallon (litre)but I bet I get more roof down days per gallon and that's got to be worth the extra cost.

I tend to alternate between Super and normal unleaded, for reasons of cost and convenience.
I haven't noticed much difference, though I wouldn't want to run on 95 RON all the time.

I use Super when its available from Sainsburys (97 Ron) and premium when they run out. I do notice that the car prefers super, not necessarily in performance but at low speeds, its seems a bit jerky with premium in it.

I tend to run 99% of the time on normal unleaded. I don't think it has any negative effect. As for performance - Since I am not racing from stoplights I don't really notice any difference. My mid range acceleration is still excellent.
98 ron has descended into 97 ron and so I wonder if the difference is that much.
