Default People with 2000 Berlina Black ... How well did the paint hold up under normal use

I have a 04 Berlina Black and was wonder how well the black paint held up for the 3 to 4 years the cars have been on the road under normal use. Is there any noticeable fading or a ton of swirls compared to other black cars out there from other manufactuers.

My last car black car before the G35(which scrached if you walked past it) was a 1989 Toyota Celica convertable and that paint had a ton of swirls and spider webbing by the time it was 4 years old. Granted I was young and a fool back then (I coated the entire car in polish in 90 degree direct sun thinking it would help )

I am being a little baby about this becaue my first color choice was the red but I would have had to wait a long time to get it and the black S was on the showroom floor and now I'm worried that afte a year or so its going to look old and worn. I know I had a choice and chose the black and yes when clean is the single most beautiful color.

One last thing, the car is sitting outside for the winter with no cover on it and it has snow sitting directly on the hood and trunk for long periods of time when it snows. Does that harm the paint, I figured it would do more harm if I tried to slide the snow off because it could scratch.

Thanks,

Mike

Black is the hardest color in the world to keep in good shape. Dust blowing past the car in a light breeze scratches it.

Honda paint is pretty good. As long as you maintain the paint clean then it should hold up nicely. Black on every car is hard to keep clean, but as long as you take the time to wash it regularly and detail it you should have no problems.

My front bumper is trash I don't know why or how. But after a nice wash either way the rest of the car looks pimp.

Take care of it very carefully. I've also seen the front end form little pock marks or faded spots. Shouldn't be an issue if you keep a good coat of polish on it.

Thanks for all of the replys.

Does the snow sitting on the hood and trunk of the car cause any paint damage if it sits for extended periods of time? Do I run a risk of rusting or corrosion?

The car is parked outside with just grass and rocks under it, what is the possibility of undercarrage issues? It has had no contact with any road salt and it has no chips in the paint.

Next year I will store it in a garage.

Thanks,

Mike

That moisture on the underside is bad news i am afraid. If you think scratches on Black is a problem. Where your parking it now will be a big PITA.

Couldn't you get a portable garage up? If anything please put a tarp on the ground and drive your car over it. I will help with the moisture. Also get a good all weather cover. Waterproof if you will be leaving it outside.

Mike welcome to the New England area! Look for some drives this year when the weather gets better.
