Default Peeling the windshield tape off.

I have a hard top and i decided to Peel the windshield tape off after seeing many of the pics on this site. Is there anything to it? I remember seeing one member say the glue is hard to get off, any tricks to getting it off easier? Well im about to go start out, all I'm really trying to see is if theres anything i should do before i just start peeling it off. Probably a noobish question, but no harm asking. Thanks for any help.

Just start at one corner. I start mine at the top portion of the windshield where the two tape overlap each other. And pull it SLOWLY downward. Good luck.

Thanks for the tip, what about the glue type substance after you remove the tape?

I used denatured alcohol, worked OK, still lots of fingernail action.. goo-gone might do the trick, there was a big DIY thread about it I think in wash and wax forum, try search again...
If you come across any sanded areas, don't freak out, they buff right out with even the most mild polish. (at least in my case, I have heard of some worse ones)

I ended up using a clay bar with goo gone as the lube... but I still find specs of glue under the weather stripping every once in a while

A lot of people say it was an easy process but this was a pretty involving ordeal for me. I had a few scratches in the paint under the tape that I had to go to town on, but it turned out looking great.

leave the front in the hot sun for a couple hours
and then start pulling off slowly.... slowly

seem the older the car the more glue stick

I pulled my tape off in 10 minutes with one little spot of sticky
at the time the car was about 8 months old

Be advised that you may have a paint issue under the tape. I did and it cost me $250 to fix. I'd still do it, but understand that you have a risk here.

Im taking my car to the body shop on Tuesday for about $1100 worth of work. I think im just gonna peel the tape off and ask my body shop guy to deal with the glue, waxing, getting off part. Hoefully he won't try to charge me more for it.
