Default Passenger side latch catches when lowering top, Help.

When I go to lower my top the passenger side latch catches. Do I have to replace something or adjust something? It's the hook that re-catches. Thank you.

The hook should drop out and dangle with the latch is opened and remain that way when you close the latch. Catching on something? Needs a drop of CLP or light oil?

Done right the hook doesn't come within a couple of inches of the windshield fitting.

I see your problem. Read your owner's manual. You're skipping step 4

Sequence (paraphrased)

1. Set hand brake.
2.. Ignition ON
3. Press the latch lock and pull latches down.
4. PUSH "EM BACK UP.
5. Pull back on the roof switch.

I've read that pushing them back up can cause more wear and tear on the top which I've noticed leaves a temporary indent. (By push them back up) you mean lock them back in place right?

On another s2k that I've tried all I did was unlatch and put the top down without it getting caught.

If you're still having this issue, make a video with your smartphone, load it on youtube, and post back here so we all know EXACTLY whats going on and how we can better assist you!

Just open and immediately close the latches. Ka-click, ka-click. The little hooks will hang down out of the way.

I physically verified those steps yesterday 'cuz I was astounded yours would rehook as mine clear by a couple of inches. Then I tried it with the latches still open and the passenger side comes very close to hooking again but doesn't in my car. The latches need to be closed according to Honda (but what would they know?). Sticking up and rattling is not good for sure.

Let us know how this is supposed to cause extra wear. I'm curious.

I'm a long term owner (since 2002), and I've never come across any warning against re-latching (as instructed in the owners' manual) when folding the top. Been doing it since I bought the car new, and never noticed any additional wear from doing so. Now, if your elastic straps are worn, and the top isn't folding correctly... that's a whole different story, and a different issue to address.

Not relatching the latches is also a way to cause a rip in your soft top fabric.

I have an '03 that I bought new. I always "re-latch" before putting the top down. Top still looks like new after 12 years.
