that makes me want to paint the wheels on my BB S2K orange, like this

THANKS for the idea! Orange wheels here I come! Pretty sure I can do this in a reversible way. I just peeled the red pinstripe off my wheels to get rid of the Time Attack look and was trying to figure out what to try next, I might try oranging up the wheels now.....

pc is physically harder than any paint you're going to spray on.
...and also changes the metallic properties of your wheels during the required baking process (as someone previously mentioned).

So what's worse....the potential for paint chips (even though unlikely with a quality prep/paint job), or the potential for chipped/broken wheels?

Not that I'm completely against powder coating, but if it were that much better than paint, don't you think at least the high-end wheel manufacturers would powder coat?

you read my mind.

the question is, do you need the finish to be titanium stiff? if you run a curb or have some idoit at the tire mounting process, PC, paint or not they will not able to survive the ordeal.

how much is the PC process for wheel btw? 250?-350?

you can get PPG body colour matched paint for around 100, that's EVERY colour in the face of the earth.

of course, if you are lazy as fwak and don't want to break a sweat then have them PC'ed

When you guys are wetsanding the enamel paint - what grit are you using (prior to clearcoat)? And then once clearcoated what grit are you wetsanding with - 1000, 1500?

Mine are turning out really awesome so far but I just want to be sure I am doing it right...(these are track wheels for my 944 turbo btw)

Thanks,
Sam
1000 to 2000 will do it, depends what kind of blemish you had, something like dust will require alot less cut/grit vs a overspray/runs/orange peel/finger print.

the wheel looks awesome btw

$40-80 max per wheel..

Some PC needs to be baked for ~375
