Why don't you ask the guy whose ride that is... It so happens to be a local's ride and I know he used Duplicolor wheel paint, available at most auto parts store.
Although the results from a can is good enough for some, I will agree with the above poster about powdercoating vs painting as well, much better durability and over all look.

i would agree that powdercoating is a better option, and would reccomend that over painting them.
clean
stripe
sand
fill(if needed)
clean
prep rag
primer
enamel paint
wet sand
clear coat
wet sand(if need)
it's all about the detail, most of the average diyer will skip some stage and the rest of us assume rattle can is crappy, etc. for example the average diyer will not sand down the perfectly shiny oem finish, a perfectly smooth finish has little mechanical adhesion for the paint. The different between a primer and a self etching primer, etc
one thing about powdercoating is that it COULD weaken the structure of the wheels, there's been cracked/destroyed wheels and upon inspection from the MFG, it turns out that the powder coating process was to blame.

I painted mine with the dupli-color paint and was very happy with the results. They came out really nice I've gotten quite a few compliments on them. Realistically, if you've got $500 worth of tires mounted and balanced on your AP1 wheels you'll be able to sell them for $300-400. The wheels are basically worthless; it makes no sense to invest a couple hundred bucks to have the wheels powdercoated when you can paint them myself for $4.
