painting the headlight housing?

Default painting the headlight housing?

is it doable to paint the the headlight housing to match the body color rather then keeping it the gray? just curious as i love the look of the ferrari's and new vettes in which the lights seem to jump out because they are surrounded by matching paint rather than a black/gray. anyone do this? pics? didn't turn up anything in a search.

Yes, it can be done. A couple of the guys in the NY Metro forum have done this. Billman250 & BlueMonde on Silverstone. Nibble has done it on NFR.

I have a set of inserts for sale ~$70 shipped. By a spare set, get them painted and then install the painted ones minimizing "downtime".

If "search" worked better you would have gotten hits.

Yup, if you want to do it yourself, here are some of the things you need:
Colormatched paint, you should have an autmotive paint shop around:

Sprayer for the colormatched paint:

Clearcoat:

Place to paint:

And here's how mine turned out, did it on my own:
