Painting car process info please
I'm just curious but what would be the process for a good quality paint job? There might be a possibility that i might have my car painted over the summer since the front end needs it anyways and might be looking to change to the new laguna blue depending if i can afford it when summer time comes. What is the process that a reputable shop would go through to re-paint the car. What sanding process is done, how much of the original paint will be stripped, is the car sanded down to bare metal? how many coats of color, and clearcoat, will it be color, wet sand, then color, then sand again and then clear cloat. I'm just giving examples of what im looking for, as i know nothing or the process of what a body shop goes through to re-paint a whole car but i'd like to know. Also recommend where and what kind of paint and how much of it will be needed and possible cost for the paint.
Thanks very much

depends on what all you want done. they can just respray the outside for $1-2k. but if you want the door jams and stuff to match they'll have to pull out the interior which will add more labor and such. and if want to do the engine bay, they have to pull the engine and everything else, etc. and then if you want the bottom of the car too, thats alot don't forget the trunk too

I have a family friend who owns a body shop so i might be getting a good deal since i would be able to help with the labor and removing parts. I just want to make sure the process isnt done cheaply so wanted to know what the process and how many coats of paint and clear would be good for a re-paint.
thanks
