I have been told that the original paint supplier will match the color better. That is if PPG supplied Honda, then their colors should match better than say Dupont. I don't know if this is true or not, but I don't like my car being two different colors.

I had some bumper damage, took it to a Honda dealer, they couldn't match the paint after 2 attempts. I griped, they flew in the BASF tech from Michigan and they got it pretty darn near perfect after that.

Not sure if that proves OEM supplier, though.......

Sorry I don't know who the paint manufacturer is. What I have found is the paint is baked enamel. Honda folks at Tochigi said the paint is 12mm thick. Honda of Australia said the paint is a 3 coat and 3 bake process.

I can't believe this is even close. 12 mm is over half an inch thick. There is no way our paint is even close to that. I would be doubtful it's even half a millimeter thick. Go look at the rock chips on your car to see how thin the paint is.

I think the paint looks great, but it chips WAY too easily.

I don't think the 12mm thick refer to the thickness of the paint on the surface, but rather how it spreads over some unit of an area. I have no clue what I'm talking about either, it's just 12mm thick doesn't sound right when referring to the thickness of the paint surface.
