Talked to the body shop and the Honda dealer and they are waiting on the American Honda Rep. to okay the new front bumper. The dealer stated Honda Rep. thinks it is due to rubbing (bumper to fender) and doesn

Yeah, I noticed it while washing mine the first time. It's on the nose under the upper lip and on the grill. Not really peeling but an incomplete clear coat I think. It drives me crazy everytime I wash my car.

I think it may be a quality issue and not a warrenty issue..? What do you think?

My Prelude's front bumper has cracks on one side in the paint. I thought this may be due to the times I have slammed the car down on the ground (going too fast) and the shock made the paint flex. Maybe it is not. Are the paint cracks/peelign like a sipderweb crack pattern? If so, my Prelude has the saem problem. Good thing I have the extended warranty on my 98.

It is not "spider webbing" it is more like rubbing against the fender.

This is covered under the warranty because the car came like that from the factory...remember 22 miles on mine. I think I have the law on my side (yes I'm an attorney but this is not my specialty)...lemon law states that the dealer has three chances to fix the problem it not they can compensate me (maybe the spoilers installed on my car for free) or replace the car.

Mine actually seems to have missing clear coat splotches around the grill area on the black grill and on the silver (inner mouth) area of the intake.

To add a me too, I noticed just last night a 3/4 inch long crack in the paint on either side of the bumper where it meets the body. This is right at each corner of the hood.

Ive got the mysterious peeling between the headlight and the front bumper. I'll probably show it to the dealer and wait till I really need the bumper redone since at this point it looks pretty minor.

I finally gave up after meeting about 4 people with the same problem. Three of them didn't know they had the problem. I believe it is from rubbing, but I am not going to worry about it for now. If it gets worse, I will make sure they do something about it.

I think the little cracks are better than some bad Spa Yellow Pearl overspray all over my bumper and hood!

Well I have to say, from a shop owner who has done the Honda dealership work for 13 years. There is no aftermarket process out there that will flex as well or adhere as well as factory applied paint on bumpers. I have addressed this issue with 4 different paint manufacturers and none of them have a good answer. The problem is, if you repaint a repair or paint a replacement cover and then hit a high curb or hit something like a small animal, the paint will not flex like the factory paint would have. Aftermarket paints on rubber covers have never been as flexible as they are from factory. If I had the choice of a discreet touch up I would go that route. If you repaint you have a lot more that could go wrong, color match, adhesion, gloss level, texture, flexibility, etc.
