I had to use my smartphone to see why my top wouldn't go up on day 1 of ownership a few years ago. I didn't have the parking brake on. That's what led me to this forum.

 

And then right to the Top Down Mod?

 

I hadn't found anything in the secret compartment of my last S or the one I own now, however, the first S I bought I found a $20, a "Team Voodoo" racing decal (though the car didn't have a voodoo shift knob) and a BMW key. I thought it was quite the assortment of goods!

I remembered how excited I was to leave the dealership after I bought the 2nd car so I could open the compartment...only to be severely let down that it was empty! When I bought the S I have now it was from a private party so I did ask him before I left the house if he had anything in there...he actually laughed and said he was just getting ready to tell me about it.

 

I think a "strangest thing you have found in a used car" thread would be interesting!
