Default OverREV? You probably were underinformed.

Here is part of a page from your S2000's owner's manual.

Please tell me how the highlighted passage can be accomplished. Look in the book, that's all the information you get.

Anyone who wants to fight for warranty coverage should take their owner's manual with them to court.

I take that as meaning that, if I'm about to downshift, I should take a look at the tach and judge if, by downshifting, the engine will over rev. Doesn't seem that difficult to understand.

like for instance if you are at 8000 rpms in 3rd gear, you do not want to down shift into second becuase i am sure it will go deep into the red zone and can cause some serious damage

Why should you have to "judge"? How does somebody less experienced judge? Should a driver have to experiment to find out?

Is that all my VALID point deserves? What's the answer to the question?

If it's extremely important not to downshift at the wrong time and destroy the engine, a less vague explanation is required.

There are many ppl who are driving stick shift in the S2000 for the first time. Not being available in automatic may be a good reason why.

Here is the correct way to communicate the danger of downshifting, and how to avoid it (from my CR-V owner's manual)

I don't have my manual in front of me, but I was about to ask if the S2000 manual had a max speed in gear chart like other Hondas... but you're saying it doesn't??? Wow, that is certainly surprising!!!

*** Edit ***
I suppose Honda just thought that the car was for enthusiasts so they'd be preaching to the choir, but why didn't their lawyers protect them by insisting on such a chart?
