Overfill Tranny Oil?
#3
I voted 1.8 but this will be my next change in the spring. I might even go all 2 liters and keep an eye on it. My only concern would be that the level might be at or above the front and rear seals. These seals should not have a problem being constantly bathed in fluid but you never know. I not too concerned about frothing as there is really nothing in the tranny that would slam down into the fluid (UNLIKE the engine crankcase oil where the crank would slam into the oil if it was overfilled).

You and I are on the same wavelength.
Here are some pictures, don't know if they will help judging location relative to seals.

I saw that thread and I think that any overfill will see the level above the seals. "Former" has had his overfill now for a few weeks and he has not indicated anything wrong or that he has seen any oil leaks on the ground so I'm thinking all is well.
Oh, forget to say how I measured the overfill. Previous experience has shown that filling it to level overflow is more or less 1.6 liters (ie. 0.4 L left in the second bottle). To get 1.8 L in, I just put all but 0.2 L in. I confirmed that it was indeed an overflow by lowering the car down to level. The fluid began to come out before it got to level so I jacked it back up and put the plug in.

I've been over filling for about six months now. I add one quart of RedLine MT-90 and one quart of RedLine MTL. A little dose spill out so it is not exactly 2 qts. but very close. When the oil is fresh , this combination gives some of the smoothest shifts ever. Just before attending last September's DragonBall Run, I changed the engine oil, tranny oil, and diff. fluid. That was 3 hard days on the Dragon and surrounding roads, the total trip was 1600 miles. With around 3,000 miles on the tranny fluid, it started to get that notchie felling, so it's time for a change. When it was drained, the oil was no longer bright red, but looked like rusty water. The Dragon is a roller coaster ride for your car and you spend a lot time accelerating the decelerating again, hard rights or hard lefts, and you spend a lot of time in the land of VTEC! I think the Dragon fried my transmission fluid! I guess if you drive hard, change fluids often.
