actually, fuel cutoff on the ap1 in 2nd gear is just about 66mph. if you're shifting at 60, you're short shifting.
mmmmm.......I am sure (but not 100%), mine only goes to 60 in second. What is your top speed in second gear Wisconsin with the 4.57gear?

59mph is the point at which fuel cutoff is reached on an ap1 with 4.57 gears.

trust me, the ap1 stock gearing goes to about 66mph. you just may not see this because the car goes faster than the speedo can keep up with as you accelerate and shift.

If nothing happened instantly then you should be ok. I over revved my car 6 months ago downed it to 2nd trying to go to 4th at almost 95mph. Had Honda recently do a compression test and pull the head for inspection (just to be on the safe side) and everything checked out fine.

2 other San Diego guys down here over revved thier S's and dropped valves like it was hawt Just keep a good ear out and if you hear anything clicking or clanking like crazy or out of the norm then kill the motor right away and inspect it.

Good luck, and friends don't let friends race thier S2000's.
jk

How the hell did you get your car to 95 in third?

Damn, I'm sure glad I have a device that records highest rpm achieved and really helps out on the roadcourse because I can't see the top part of the tach due to my tall torso:

NOTE: I DID NOT BUY FROM THIS STORE. JUST USING IT TO SHOW A PICTURE.

It should be fine, If it feels like it did before and theres no strange noises, then it ok.

You only really damage things if you miss shift and leave it in that gear, for the most part the person driving will notice they miss shifted and hit the clutch right away.

I've miss shifted plenty of times in some of my other cars and nothing happend (hit the clutch quick), then again I knew people first hand that miss shifted and were too stupid to hit the clutch again and dropped valves, but that you WOULD notice lol

Sounds like you're driving the car, so it's probably fine.

This is wrong, very wrong. Get your retainers checked.

12k+ rpm's would be if he let the engine rev to it's Max for that gear, for the most part people hit the clutch as soon as they realize it's the wrong gear and never let it rev to the max.

I would Imagine that's what happened or the engine wouldn't be running right now.

If it makes you feel better, compression test and visually inspect the valvetrain. You can do all that yourself and is not expensive to do, you can even borrow a compression tester from some autopart stores.

Xavier
A compression test or leakdown WILL NOT show the damage from an overrev, unless it is severe enough to drop a valve.

However, a passed leakdown test or compression test will give you a false confidence that your engine is undamaged, followed by very expensive engine surgery.

there r no noises...engine sounds fine...no clicking no nothing...and he did clutch it real quick wen he noticed he miss shifted it probably all happened in a matter of 2 seconds...so u guys think i should have something to worry about??? ever since it happened last nite i couldnt sleep or anything knowing my car could b in some serious trouble...but im feelin much better now knowing if nothing has happened yet and it drives fine then the car will b ok...but about the losing power and performance...to me...it actually seems to take off quicker then it usually would but i dont kno if thats my mind playing tricks on me or the cold weather???
You should be worried and you shouldn't drive your car until the valve spring retainers are inspected.
