One rear tire ruined --- do I need to replace both rear tires?
So I ran over a screw with my S2000 --- and ruined the tire. I have 7,500 miles on my S2k --- do I need to replace both rear tires???
The guys at my local tire shop are recommending 2 new tires (Because the car is rear wheel drive)...
Any thoughts???
Also-- anyone have any good recommendations on where to get stock tires pretty affordably?
Thanks,
Richard::

the screw ended up ruining my sidewall --- so the tire cannot be repaired.
So -- now that I need atleast one new tire --- do I need 2?
Will driving with 50% tread on one tire and 100% on another --- will that effect my car?

You definately need 2 new tires as a rule of thumb. Having two different tread wears on the back can unbalance the car in extreme situations. Because your car has 7500 miles and the stock S-02s tend to last between 10-20k miles depending on, your driving style, you probably have significant enough tread wear to warrant the two new ones. I know it sucks, but that is part of owning a high-performance car. Check the tire rack for prices, the are usually pretty competitive. Some people have swapped the S-02's for the S-03's which seem to be a bit cheaper.

Replace both, keep good tire as a spare in case it happens again at approximately the same tread wear depth some time down the road. That is, if you don't change model tires.
Go easy on that LSD by keeping your tires the same circumference!

Are the S-03's a lower quality tire?
Some swear by the S02 and some swear by the S03.
In a nutshell, from what I've read, S02 is a slightly better dry tire and S03 is a much better rain tire.

yes, you need to get two new tires. The rears are probably at least 50% worn at 7500 mile. A new tire on only one side will not be a good idea, especially if you push the car. Keep the old one as a spare, and mark it so you know which side it was on. I am sure another S2000 owner may need one at some point, including maybe yourself.
