OMG!! I Got Mine!
Well, after a lot of shopping, soul searching, and price hunting, I finally picked up a MY2000 S2K tonight! I took a little (~85 miles) drive around LA to see what she's like, and all I can say is WOW! Everything I read, everything you guys have said, and everything I imagined - it all pales in comparison to the reality of driving her around (haven't christened her yet, still deciding on a name).
Even my test drives were dull compared to the last 3 hours of driving. I got it all in, canyon running (Topanga and Laurel), freeway driving (the 101), scenic roads (PCH naturally), boulevard cruising (Sunset and Ventura of course), and even a decent kill (MY2k M Coupe).
The first time I really VTEC'd it, I actually laughed out loud (ok, the first 4 or 5 times), and I really understand what y'all mean when you say:

Thanks to all on this board who've gotten me this far, and be patient with me as I learn more!

congrats! i just got mine 3 days ago. This is the best car i've ever had. I am far from vtec-ing but seems very fast still. It maybe cuz this is my first stick shift car but dang it's awesome. Enjoy it.

Congrats and welcome. I see you're another so cal person. Make sure you check out our meets in the future. Unfortunately, the one that's coming up is full. Check the regional S2K sites out.
