02/03 changed plastic rr window to glass. Cuts down on visibility a bit, but long term wear of plastic rr windows is bad. I had a '97 Z3 a while ago, and the plastic window was constantly foggy (no rr def. on plastic windows), and it is prone to swirl marks and such. Over time, they get milky and less clear.

^So thats about the only reason right?

I was looking at an 02 before I got my 01 and that was all I found different.

I hardly notice though since I have the top down every chance I get.

Well the 02-03 also has interior/exterior cosmetic changes, that make it look better, very subtle ones I might add. In fact, you probably wouldn't really notice until you had them side-by-side.

The 02-03 also had a revised suspension, to curb the happy rear-end...as I've often said, I don't see the difference, my 03 will still step the tail out a bit too easily. 02-03's are also known to dyno consistently higher whp, due to a retuned ecu apparently. Nothing spectacular, just around 5whp or so on average.

As for the 04's, I love the new interior, two tone + the stereo flap = sex0r. I also like the new 17" wheels better, but apart from that I personally think the Ap1 front/rear end look better.

Shift_s2k was right on the button when he said this:
Having driven both though I can tell you this: neither will outperform the other, they come up equal both in speed and hanlding. The newer ones are a bit more friendly in daily driving but are also maybe a touch less exilarating when driving at the limit. Oh and the 04+ has better looking lights and bodywork IMO. Either way you'll be happy.
