Okay to drive w/out Airbox?

Then the answer is yes, with two caveats...
1. You will get more heat soak (heated intake air, robs power).
2. You risk getting some water in the intake (wicked bad idea) if you're in the rain.

the guy at the stealership told me that its really bad and that i should put it on RIGHT away because rocks can get into the engine. I just love the sound of it . Does anyone have it off?
Also i have a MG style hood so would that make a difference?

I recommend you look into a cold air intake (CAI), sikk... You'll get the sound, and you'll get the directed air from outside. As XV pointed out, what you have now is a "hot" air intake (which is counter-productive)
