Default Ok I have a questoin for Rim/Tire people----------->

Ok I have 18x7.5 rim with a 45mm offset. Two of my tires exploded a while ago due to some nails in a alley I was going through. I have to replace them because, on both of them, there were holes in the side wall so you know you cant fix that. Right now I am on stock wheels just to let you know. Now on with the question. How wide of a tire can i get for the front and rear. I was thinking to get 225/40/18 in the front and 245/35/18 in the rear. Would that work out? Is there something about the sizing that I did wrong? What should I do. I also am thinking about getting RM springs for the car. Please help me out with my questions.

Thanks,

Chris

Yes, you did something wrong. Your wheels should be staggered. Something like a 18x7.5 front and a 18x8.5 rear would have been the proper choice. In order to run your 225/40's on the front you need at least a 265/35 on the rear. I know you can't fit a 265 on the 18x7.5 but that's what you'll need to avoid destroying the handling and balance of the car. Good luck finding an 18x8.5 with enough offset.

BTW, I run a 225/40 on 18x8 and a 265/35 on 18x9 custom built HRE's.

I would be scared to drive that car with non-staggered wheels.

You should try asking this question in the wheel & tire forum for better responses, especially from our friends at Tire Rack.
