Oil Up Boys (and Girls)!

It's pretty obvious recently that many folks have not heeded Honda's reommendations and checked their oil. So head out to the garage and fess up! Is your oil low? Why or why not?
I'm just above the low mark....which is down from just a week ago (VTEC itos)....oh the shame!

We have polled folks on oil consumption in the past and it will vary widely. Check it regularly, especially if you are running the car hard.
Every engine and every break-in is a little different. Some may consume a lot of oil tapering off as they break-in, sometimes as late as 7-10K miles.
Some use very little oil. Mine has not used any in over 8K miles.

I always use 5W30 for several reasons.
1) With lower viscosity it gets circulated sooner, and studies have shown the primary cause of wear is the delay in lubrication at start-up. 2) It does flow easier than thicker oil so there is lower pumping looses. 3) It has the sheer strength to lubricate is our close tolerance engines so there is no reason to use a heavier oil.
This is an issue where I am afraid there are more habits and stories that documented studies.

Has there been any correlation between oil consumption and major engine problems later?
I have an 2001 with 650 miles and have noticed definite oil consumption during a very gentle break-in period. Since we have special oil in the engine during break-in, what should we top-up with that would mix with the break-in oil?
