Oil and Transmission Fluids
I could use some technical advice from the membership. I own a 2004 tan/white S2000 which arrived last week; I want to change the oil to Mobil 1 and transmission fluid to Red Line, but have been receiving conflicting information on when the changes are appropriate. Some say to change it after about 600 miles [the breakin period], some say after 3000 miles, and some say 7500 miles. In previous cars [Mazda Miata M edition] I changed it after 300 breakin miles. Does anyone know what is the preferred method??

Suggest you do a search on the zillions of threads dealing not only with when to do this but what to use. For example, i am using the famous GM synchromesh fluid in my tranny with excellent immediate results in lessening notchiness.

Keep the break-in oil in there for a good bit of time....
Don't switch to synthetic until around 10k miles.
As for the tranny fluid....why bother?????
I need to change my diff fluid, but I also AutoCross my car and drive it really hard... It's got 16k miles on it now.

Keep the break-in oil for at least 3,750 miles. When you hit 10,000 miles, then switch to Mobil 1. Change your transmission fluid according to your type schedule.
