Unless you qualify for "normal" service intervals, you shouldn't leave it till 7500 miles. Many of us do not believe there is a "special" break in oil but you do what sit well on your conscience.
As for the grind, it "might" still be your driving style. You might consider adjusting the clutch pedal just slightly to conform more to your shifting style. This can be done under the dask at the pedal itself. There is a lock nut you undo, then you twist the rod. Try twisting it no more than 1/2 a turn clockwise at a time till you see if it helps. Also, when you shift, use the left rail of the shift pattern as your guide into 2nd. ie. apply pressure full left as you pull the stick down into 2nd.
As for the diff fluid change, be it known that Honda does NOT have a designated gear oil for the S2000 diff. Many dealers will put in the same stuff they put into diffs of CRV's and Pilots. This is NOT the correct fluid and could damage your diff irreversibly. Some dealers will out source this diff fluid and get one that is more suitable. If in doubt, take them your own fluid for the change. Many of us use Mobil 1 synthetic 75W90 gear oil.
