oil life indicator on the dash

Using a synthetic the reminder plus a 6mo. self imposed rule works out to about half of the suggested life span of the oil. The SM suggests that the minder will show 0% between 6-7.5k depending on the type of driving you do and that the oil should be changed on a yearly basis if this milage is not met. 6 month or 6k seems very reasonable to me with a synthetic.

Yeah if you're using synthetic there is no need to be changing the oil every 3k miles unless of course you are tracking the car regularly then you should probably be checking on it more frequently. The last time I changed the oil in my s2k I went 6k miles on it.

I change it every 7000 or so miles on Mobile 1. About 50 or so miles prior to hitting the 7K mark, the oil life indicator will go on showing ~15%. By the time I get to changing it, it shows around 5% or 10%.
I daily drive my car, rarely Vtec/redline.

I try to use the 3000 miles rule, but it may be 4000 miles before I do it.
Just as an FYI, the Oil Life Indicator doesn't actually show your oil life, just a % based on miles.
