Default Oil level drop... still a problem?

After 26000 miles my level still drops significantly. I switched to Mobil 1 at about 8000 miles. Every oil change cycle a half to 2 quarts is needed to top off.

Anyone else with the same problem? Anyone care to guess why that is?

You may want to start checking more frequently. Waiting for an oil change to find you are 2 quarts down is not a good thing.

You might want to change back to regular oil, like Castrol GTX. Maybe it wasn't broken in completely at the 8K mark.

I guess the unusual cylinder wall material, the high rpm, and other factors combine to make this engine different when it comes to oil consumption. Mine used no oil in the first 20K miles but has started to consume oil since.. I can find no leaks but I am now (at 27K) adding a quart in the period between changes.. kinda worrisome as it is not the slow linear change in consumption I expected.

what do you mean by "8K mark". are you saying the f20c stops breaking in at this at 8k miles?

I think what he is saying is that you jumped the gun a bit on the Mobile1.

I've noticed my engine using a bit more oil since it passed 10,000 miles. Nothing extreme; I always add oil when I'm two "X"'s down, it just seems to happen faster now.
I'm currently at 10,800 miles and plan to go synthetic in a week or two.
