Default which oil does MY04 s2k comes with from the dealer

I picked up my baby last week, and i would like to top up the engine oil. I would rather not make the trip to the dealer.

Any of you know which oil (brand, viscosity) is used from the factory/dealer ? Does it matter or can i just top it up with different brand (castro GTX) ?

Thanks for the help.

You never REALLY know what the factory fill oil is, but I guarantee that the dealer isn't going to use it. They will use whatever brand they prefer. From what I've read (many, many times), the OEM fill is Mobil 0 "Drive Clean". It is not a high end oil; just a regular old oil...

I also haven't burnt oil (6600 miles) but it's always a good idea to check. I'm pretty sure Honda dealer oil is some Mobile of sort.

BTW, another advantage to using Mobil 0 Drive Clean is that it will probably be the best upgrade path for going to Mobil 1 (at about 10K miles), since it probably uses the same detergents.

BTW 2, the only Honda recommended viscosity is 10W-30.

I like to top off with Castrol GTX.

I believe the manual also states 5W40 can be used in cold climates. At least that's what my manual states.

The recommendation for the '04 may be different, so go with whatever viscosity it recommends.
