Oil consumption?

Oil consumption?
As you know I am a new member. I purchased my car 2 weeks ago. Yesterday my check engine light came on. I checked the manual and it said to check the gas cap, I did. Checked the fluids and found the car was 2.5 quarts low!!? Filled the oil back up and the check engine light is still on today. I will pull the code on Monday but thought someone here would have an idea of what this might be about. I realize it is possible that the dealer did not put the correct amount of oil in but 2.5 quarts? A little back ground, the car is a 2001 with 34,000 miles.

A visual with a work light is certainly in order.. Cardboard under it at night to see if you have anything.
I mean it's very few things. Gaskets/Seals/Rings.
But NO, I don't think you'll find anyone on here that's ever seen that kind of consumption with out it being a very real issue.
