Default Oil consumption for 04s

I have 5500 miles on my 04 and as of yet i have not used any oil at all.

Not even down 1 x on the dip stick. I dont baby my S i VTEC quite often.

I posted a topic about this several months ago and found that most 04 owners

had the same experience that i have had. Was just wondering if this continues

to be the norm with the 04 models. My oil is getting dirty and it is rather hard me

to keep the break in oil till 7500 miles. Did anyone change theirs early? Thanks

to all who have input on this.

My 02 uses no oil at all in 3000 miles. It seems to depend on the car.

As for break in. If it were me I would go ahead and change it at 6000 so it would be a multiple of 3000. That is how I alway do my cars so I never have to write the mileage down. But I am a dork like that

I am at 13k and still no oil usage. I changed oil first at 3750 and have gotten into a 3k interval since then

No consumption with the factory fill.

I change to Delvac-1 @ 6 months/ 1000 miles and no consumption since then either.

I think Honda addressed early consumption issues with the 2.2L engine, seems to have worked.

I have 3,000 on my 04 and the service manager says to wait until 7,500 miles for first oil change because Honda uses a special break-in oil. Have you been told this?

They do not use a special breakin oil in any new Honda.
Also, just my .02 but I would not allow any of my vehicles, whether new or older, to get 7,500 miles on it between oil changes. Changing the oil often is the cheapest preventative maintenance you can ever do. That and checking your tire pressure regularily.

MY04 with 2000 miles.

Not even a drop of oil consumption yet. I haven't seen any MY04 owner with this problem. It seems Honda dealt with it. With that said, I think it's still a good idea to change the oil at 3000 miles or so, especially if you drove it hard. I know I will.
