Oil change Jiffy Lube
#21
Since I got my s, the one thing I've been told consistently, here and by other owners, is to stick with oem Honda fluids, filters, etc. Having heard too many horror stories to count about Jiffy Quicky ass@#$#@ mart oil changes gone bad, I would never trust mine w/ one of those places. I'm sure there are exceptions, but in general, with dealerships hiring GOOD mechs all the time, my opinion is that Jiff, Town Fair Tire, etc. "mechanics" are the dregs.

[QUOTE=SheDrivesIt,Aug 5 2005, 09:00 AM] Hey Bing, Honda doesn't make oil. The stuff in Honda bottles at the US dealers is reportedly Mobil Drive Clean.
I stand corrected, but I think you get my point. If I found out tommorow that Fram made my" Honda" oil filter, I'd probly still buy the "Honda" filter, cause, lets face it, most stuff is out-sourced these days anyhow, right?
I guess the bottom line is.....whatever the part is that I'm buying, if Honda puts their name on the box, that's what they want me to put in the car, whether they made it or not.
P.S. The last oil change I did, I was talking to a guy at the parts counter, trying to pick his brain about the '06.He says"That red one out front is an 06. "No it's not" I say

No matter what, DON'T USE JIFFY LUBE!!! I let them change the oil on my Saab once....they will never see any of my cars again!! Those morons drained my transmission fluid instead of the oil after I went in for an oil change, even though the drain plugs are clearly marked! Then they didn't replace enough of the fluid enough in the transmission, so I had to have a 400 buck repair, which they TRIED to get out of paying. (They did pay for the repair --after I went to their corporate headquarters).
Those idiots couldn't find their ass with both hands, a flashlight and a funnel. If you love your Honda, (and I know you do, or you wouldn't have asked the question here!) don't even let them clean your windows!!!

My parents took their car in to a Jiffy Lube once before a 1200 mile trip. The whole drive down they smelled some burning oil and just assumed some had spilled on the engine and was burning off. But to be sure we popped the hood after the trip and sure enough the oil fill cap was just sitting on the block covered in oil. What mess... I'm just glad their engine didn't seize along the way. Of course, YMMV.
