At the end of the day I can't believe any manufacturer can void the warranty for changing the oil too early or too frequently.

This brings to my mind another issue. My '02 S2k has about 2200 miles on it, and has gone through about a quart of oil. Everything I've read says this is fairly normal, but is it okay to replace the oil with regular 10W-30? The book doesn't mention replenishing oil during the "break-in".

Eventually I'll probably switch to synthetic, but for now I'm following the instructions. I went 300,000 miles on my old Accord by doing that.

Vorlon ..... yes, use a petroleum based 10w-30 oil. Using one to two quarts sounds pretty normal for the S2000 for the break-in period.

Can you enlighten me on my situation: my Suzuka is 6 months old with only 1400 (EASY) miles; when should I change my oil?

i had my oil change at about 2000 miles, right after a driving school event.

i looked at it and it's kinda look brown-ish color ...

so i went ahead and have the oil change.

i just don't feel comfortable knowing the oil color is not really clean ...

Your owners manual does't call for it's first service until one year. If I were you, I'd wait another 6 months. Mine is one year old and I had an oil change at around 3800 miles. I now have almost 5000 miles on it and won't get another oil change until 7500 miles.

I have my doubts as to whether or not there is such a thing as "break-in oil".

I changed mine at 3000 miles with Castrol GTX 10W-30 and will continue to do so every 3K miles.

At the risk of starting a religious debate, every OBJECTIVE analysis I've read says that the 3000 mile oil change is a big waste, promoted by oil companies. I haven't seen a recommended 3,000 mile change since my old VW.

I changed the oil every 7,500 miles (per the book) on my first two Accords till they wore out. First one went 200,000 miles, and the second, 300,000. Lots of highway driving tho.

Since my S2K is leased, I'll follow the book, but I think I'll switch to synthetic in case I'm tempted to buy the car at the end.
