People say you should wait until about 10K miles before switching to synth oil. I'm not sure how valid this is as a lot of cars come from the factory with synth oil. My Evo did and so did my GTO.
Thanks. So when the minder gets to 15% (looks like about 6500 miles for me), I will get the oil change with regular dino.

Then at 10K, switch over to synthetic.

Thanks for the help.

Yeah when my wife got her 2006 Accord I used to take it to get an oil change every 3000 miles until the guys finally told me that i should only come in when the oil life indicator is b/w 10-15%.

My 07' S2k hit 15% around 4500 miles I'm gonna take it in around 4800 (thats when i have time). But i have been VTeC'king every day on my 100 mi Commute (roundtrip). Regurlaly hitting 100+mph and hitting redline in every gear.
I know i gotta slow down but it's so fun to hear the engine MEOW>

If you run synthetic, I really don't see the harm in 5k miles. I've done that with ALL of my cars, and never once had a mechanical problem. My brother's Corolla lasted 200k miles that way.

it took me about 5 months to get 4000 miles and oil life was at 40%. I just changed it cuz i thought it was too old. does the every 3 month rule still apply?

and for all those people that say read the manual... the 06 model manual just says change when the oil reminder is at 15%

Because it is the first break in oil, I will religiously follow the minder, so I am looking at 6500 miles or so.

After that 1 dino oil change at 10K, and then 5K intervals fullly synthetic.

That is the easiest for me.

WEI-I don't think the 3 month rule applies. Most of my cars get 2 oil changes a year...so I basically do it 6 months or 5K whichever comes first.

Do you think that the manual is lying to you?
