I insure 3 cars, a sport bike and a pickup for $130/month, full coverage on all but the beater car!
Congrats on having the lowest insurance rate in the country.

“payments, payments, NO”
“Taking out a loan on a deprecating asset..........”
“I always pay cash for my cars and anyone who finances a car is an idiot and very irresponsible”
I felt like I was watching it all over again...

Woa! A lot of posts. I'll try to get back to everyone throughout the day.
* First off, Insurance. Yep it's $200 per month. I made a mistake going into it thinking it would be low because I had numerous full coverage sport bikes, and other cars like a cobra mustang which never broke the $120 per month barrier. The s2000 did for some reason.. I was too wound up in finally getting my dream car that I always wanted.
* Job - I love it and won't give it up. I'm working with DOD, just not making a lot until I get the degree. Finding part time steady work around full time school and full time work is not easy and it would probably put me in the same stress boat as before.
* Credit Card - Paid off today . The only debt now is the S2000. I'm going to make some calls about insurance today....
With the credit card gone, and if i can lower insurance cost like $50 or so I will be able to add a good bit more per month towards principle knocking this thing down,
However; the car will remain for sale. I will try to get into a car that is PAID OFF and start from scratch.

Figured I would make a new post to stress this.
I have to say that taking a loan on a car is the stupidest thing you could do... I always bought vehicles in cash before but then I wanted an s2000 and was like "I gotta have it". Big mistake. There is no way around it. Financing a car that is going to lose value so quickly is no good in most cases.
If you are going to go through cars quickly or absolutley have to finance, either the vehicle is too expensive or you should look into leasing (again this is debatable too).

As someone that just recently switched from an 00 celica gts, I can tell you if money is an issue you are making the right choice. Just make sure it's not one of the gt's with the oil consumption issue.
My gts averaged 28-35 mpg too so you will save quite a bit on gas, also the gt doesn't need premium.
Sorry to hear about your situation, but don't worry, the celica is still a fun little car.

One question... Is the Celica manual??? Being forced out of a s2k is a b*tch, but being forced out of driving a manual can be pretty bad also... You get SICK of driving a automatic!
especially if you are from an s2k.
