Off-Road S2K-ing?

Off-Road S2K-ing?
I live 0.5 mile up a dirt road going up the side of a mountain. That fact alone kept me from getting an S2K for a year, but I decided that I shouldn't deprive myself of such a fine car owing to my road, and paving the road would cost as much as my S2K.
Is there anyone else who puts their car through such unavoidable abuse? Any other folks live on unpaved roads or have had to take their car off the pavement or on a rough road on a regular basis?
BTW, the LSD does a great job getting up the hill. In my Toyota truck, I routinely put it in 4WD to get up my hill, because the rear wheels spin all the way up if I don't. The S2K goes up the hill like a champ with nary a spin.

This reminds me of a party there was out in a canyon behind my house. My friends called me to tell me that a white s2k was out there. Now let me tell you these roads are nothing i woul dwant to take even a civic on. I only go out there in my truck. BTW the person who's car was out there, given from the description is a member on this board. I wonder if he'll chime in here and say something.

yup, been off roading a few times. two times were not planned, the others were. the unplanned events were once sideways and once straight on, both at over 85mph. oh well. =) just dont chip up your paint!

I will face the same problem by having to go about a 1/2 mile on a dirt road to get to my house. I'm concerned about it but figure going slow enough won't cause any problems. Actually, I'm more concerned about the little rocks and sand on the main roads while moving at highway speeds. Those will cause more damage to the front than slowly going down a "well-kept" (i.e. no major potholes) dirt road.
I thought about waiting on a S2 also but just waiting a year is going to be hard enough.

However, snow is another case. I have the Toyota truck with the TRD Off-Road package just because it has a locking differential, and it always gets up my hill when my Ford F-250 4WD had to be left at the bottom of the hill.

As long as the road is graded and you have enough ground clearance to not scrape, I don't think you have a problem. Well, you'll have to see what winter brings. Blizzaks definitely help in the snow and mud, but rear wheel drive is still rear wheel drive.
Anyway, I have driven my S2000 in the snow and on a graded gravel road and I wouldn't hesitate to do it again. As long as you can handle the incline.
Of course you could always borrow my new yellow Honda to commute between your garage and the pavement.
