The OEM wheels are 16x6.5 in front and 16x7.5 in the rear. What is the offset on the front and rear OEM wheels? Also, does the factory offset number correspond to the same offset number I will need to seek in an aftermarket set of wheels of the same size? Thanks.

OEM offsets for S2K:
Front +55 mm
Rear +65 mm

and NO on your other question they depend on what are you getting...

I don't want to sound stupid, but in this realm I am. Could you explain offset? Negative versus positive? How it works. So forth and so on. I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/tech/offset.htm

Offset is the distance from the center of the wheel to the mounting surface of the wheel.

In our cars, we have a high positive offset number.
The factory wheel offsets are +55mm (front) and +65mm (rear), which are pretty high, and that is why the wheels are inside the wheel well. If the factory wheel offsets were +45mm (front) and +55mm (rear), they would be more flush with the fender...but there would be the danger of the tire rubbing the fender if you car is lowered.

On my car...I have 18x7.5 (+48mm) in front and 18x8.5 (+50mm) in rear. The front looks fine to me...but the rear is close to it's minimum offset. Look below and you will see that the wheel is pretty even with the fender. If it was +48mm...it wouldn't fit right.

Unicron, I think that's an excellent reply.

I calculate the Spoons with rear 45mm offset and 8" wide will be 0.053" less close to the fender http://www.tolan-hoechst.com/cars/tirecalc.htm . I am convinced the Spoons will work out fine in this regard.

Btw, Unicron, the silver look excellent without the windshield frame tape.

I think the "."at the original end of the link threw it off. I have editted it and it seems to be working. Sorry for the original inconvenience.

So I guess the best way for me to look at it is: I should only buy wheel combinations that other S2000 owners before me have tried and proven to have a proper fitment?

Prolene,

Thanks bud. Hey...that's a cool "tire calculator" program...thanks for posting it.

The spoon 17x8 +45mm offset (rears) with beefy tires...should be alright if you don't lower the car too much.

hype,

Yep...sometimes the best thing to do is wait for someone to try something out so you can get a review...but, this is what it board is for...post the wheel size, offset, and tire dimensions; I'm sure someone will be able to help you out.
