I thought the same thing when I was considering purchasing a new car. A quick trip to the SOS website showed me that the sc kit cost $10,500 alone. No thanks, one of the reasons I kept the s2k!

This...I notice the younger owners tend to wave back. I feel like the middle aged owners just look at me and are like "I gotta sell this car..." Lol interestingly enough older people seem to really like it and always compliment it. Life is funny like that.
Yea just overpriced mumbo jumbo. If u can afford a nsx then u can afford a 10k sos kit. That's the philosophy they go by. In the end what makes the kit warrant a 10k price tag compared to there s2000 kit that's 5k? Magic parts?
My guess is you've never researched, developed and financed complex parts for a small niche market

Do you wave at a clean modified Honda Civic?

That's pretty harsh, but not completely nonsensical. You would think that anyone who would be willing to put 50-100k on a USED Japanese car would at least appreciate it in the same way that we do the S2000.

Like many said, it could be as simple as the guy is an a-hole, he was having a bad day, or he suffers from severe social phobia.

As far as S2000 crowd, I've had owners waive at me going 75mph on the freeway. That's always been a cool aspect of S2000 ownership. I've always wondered why ppl in say, Mustangs or Camaros, don't waive at one another. I guess the S2k is somewhat of a unicorn (not as much as the NSX) - in that you don't see one everyday or every month for that matter, even in heavily populated areas.
